Born in 1960 and educated at the Pacific Northwest College of Art and Pratt Institute in New York, Tom Cramer hit the art scene in his native Portland in the 1980’s. Dubbed the unofficial Artist Laureate of Portland, most citizens in the City of Roses whether they know it or not have seen his work. Cramer is one of the most prolific and energetic artists around. Murals, carvings, paintings, totems, cars and trucks all showcase his distinct graphic style.

Gallerists saw Cramer as a link between older artists like Clifford Gleason and Milton Wilson, and Cramer secured shows at the Jamison Thomas Gallery, Butters, Blue Gallery, Pulliam Gallery and the Mark Woolley Gallery. From 2006-2013, he showed at the Laura Russo Gallery then moved to the Augen and Imogen Galleries. Widely collected, Cramer is in the permanent collections at the Portland Art Museum, the Halle Ford Museum of Art, the Jordan Schnitzer Museum and the Boise Art Museum.
