    Rick Bartow (1946-2016) was an important leader of contemporary Native American art. He was a Newport, OR painter, printmaker, sculptor, musician, Vietnam veteran who was an enrolled member of the Mad River Band of Wiyot Indians. He has had over 100 solo exhibitions in museums and galleries including the major retrospective “Things You Know But Cannot Explain” that toured 11 museums between 2015 and 2020 .He has work in the permanent collection of Whitney Museum of American Art in NYC.
